so, my good pal and roommate, rose, works for one of the few venues in san francisco that i don't. she, in the infinite kindness of her heart, and the fact that her date flaked on her, took me to see one of my favorite bands in the universe. (and the universe is a BIG place, and getting bigger if you ask steven hawking...)

The Electric 6

holy. crap.
alright, there are some bands i've seen live many times, and they always delight me. this is the first time i've seen the electric 6 live.
guh.
it was one of the best live shows i've seen in a long time... and i work in a LIVE VENUE!
anyway, if you like awesome rock and roll, and you have a sense of humor check them out. i love them and you should too.

and now, an early x-mas list of 10 things i'm pretty sure i won't be getting:
1. a dog.
its actually too early to tell, but i'm still a little busted up over the last debacle...

2. my back tattoo piece done or even started.
fool! i'm broke. didn't you already gather that by how much i bitch about work!? and that shit costs MONEY.

3. a nice bass guitar and amp to practice on.
its been awhile since i played, but i'm getting into all the artsy fartsy crap i used to love, so i figured this would be fun to rehash. iron maiden!

4. a real, working, non-hand-me-down computer.
is it too much to hope for?

5. superpowers.
i don't really care if i'm bitten by a radioactive bug, or my gene's mutate. dammit, i wanna shoot lazers from my eyeballs!

6. a ninja sword.
c'mon... EVERYONE wants a ninja sword. even my mother wants one. don't lie, ma. you know you do...

7. world peace.
just kidding! actually i want a machine gun with a chainsaw on it. you know... for the zombie apocalypse. duh.

8. an ipod to go with the nonexistent computer.
i like the idea of carrying 300 albums with me at any time. i'm a music junkie. and i like entire albums, not just a few single songs.

9. a REALLY nice digital video camera.
seriously, the good ones cost like 3000 bucks. are you friggen joking!? i've never even seen 3 grand all at once. i'd probably spend it on comic books and candy. because emotionally, i'm an infant. so mlah!

10. nightvision goggles.
again... for the zombie apocalypse. hey man, i live in OAKLAND. we're about three crackheads and a supervirus away from total friggen zombie meltdown. have you ever been to west oakland bart!? that place is crawling with the living dead.

quarantine. a.k.a. crapola

its crap. no, seriously... that movie is horrible.
actually, let me put it another way, the idea is great. the characters were alright. everything panned out pretty well to make a GREAT zombie film, sadly the P.O.V. camera work RUINED EVERY SECOND OF THE MOVIE! absolutely ruined it.
for those of you who don't know (mom), P.O.V. is an acronym for "point of view". its filmed either from the eyeball views of someone in the film, or its documentary style, as if somebody in the story just happens to be carrying around a big ass studio camera...
well, there's been a rash of P.O.V. films as of late. it started, at least in this run, with "The Blair Witch Project". which, and most people disagree with me here, is a really great movie. fun, scary as all hell, and it folded your mind in half with the ending.
move on, skipping a bunch of crap to, "Cloverfield". Cloverfield was entertaining for one reason to me, every one of those dim fucks dies. i hated ALL of the main characters, and when, one by one, the giant alien/demon/squidly/cthulian/video game boss/monster thingy eats them, i laughed with joy. not for the amazing cinematography or any of that crap, but because i desperately wanted them to die. horribly. i hated every goddamn one of em. annoying bastards.

anyway, Quarantine is fucking ruined by the P.O.V.
any chance of understanding is destroyed by fake camera problems, blurs from an unusually crappy autofocus, and constantly being pointed at the skinny chick, instead of, oh... i don't know... maybe THE FUCKING ZOMBIES!!!!!
for gods sake, if you want me to know where the friggen zombies come from, DON'T COVER UP THE WALL WHERE THE INFORMATION IS!

if you really like headaches, and absolutely no payoff whatsoever, then see this movie. otherwise you're better off renting a documentary about snow. at least you'll learn something.

oh, but the camera guy bashing in the face of the zombie with said camera lens, awesome. only good thing about it...

so please, go to your local horror filmmaker, and tell him to stop with the P.O.V. its a schtick, and a crappy one at that. the last guy to pull it off was George Romero, and for gods sake, he STARTED the goddamn zombie genre...

so, next week i'm heading to portlandia for a couple days. looks like i'm just gonna have to hang out with some of the greatest goddamn people on this here big 'ol mudball. i'm up there to be mister video guy for blue's modeling gig. but thats only for one night. the rest of the time i'll be kickin' it with daniel and ilona, and maybe a few others whom might be around. AND... we'll be heading to the H. P. LOVECRAFT film festival! oh my freaking god! my favoritist comics dude in all of the uni-verse is gonna be there, mike mignola. he made up HELLBOY you know... and the editor of rue morgue magazine'll be there too. its gonna be friggen awesome.
onto more news.
i'm all moved into the new apartment. its great. all of the roomies are happy, and keeping each other in check. we're getting everything together, just got a washing machine, and we should have a dryer next week. clothes lines are neat if you can remember the sprinklers turn on at 5pm. i didn't. oops.
i've been djing a party every once in a while. its a weekly thing called drunken monkey, and before you ponder that, i still don't drink very much at all. there's a rotating list of guest djs, and i'm on that list. done it twice now, and have another date to do it on october 14th. it's fun as all hell and everybody seems to dig it when i "spin". thats slang for dj, mom.
um, still broke from moving in... and also cause i'm always broke. but its looking like with the new place i'll be less broke than before, so i got that going for me.

i haven't posted anything in a while, so i thought i'd drop a line so you all know i'm not dead. moving to another apartment in west oakland, and dealing with the chaos that ensues when moving in with 3 other people. only one of em is really causing havoc, but its enough to last. burning man can kiss my ass! yeah other than that, there's all sorts of fun going on. i'm getting late for work, so's i gots to go, but as soon as i have more time, i'll fill you in on all the greazy little details.

no but seriously, i've been looking for a while now trying to find the right one and, you know, have the CASH to afford a dog, and one dropped right into my lap. a neighbor couldn't keep his, so he gave her to me. she's a rad little pit bull named ginger, and she's awesome! she's a little older, like five years. she is super chill and gets along with my roomies and the dog we already have at the pad. i'll post a picture or 90 as soon as i can.

other than that i've been trying really hard to work my ass off, getting shifts at 3 different clubs. guh. its groovy, i need the money and love the work.

ooh! on a great note, my little brother got engaged! yup, ang is off the market  ladies, sorry.

holy crap, that was a while ago...
just noticed it's been a couple months since my last post. oops. sorry.
well, life is getting on pretty well, i got lots of art going all over the damn place, and work has picked up so much i gotta fend off the misc. bosses trying to get me to work two venues on the same night. i'll work whichever goddam one i feel like! uh, yeah..., saw my favoritest live band in the known universe TWICE this week. they are Clutch, and they are AMAZING. one of the great things about them, and i can't be sure they do this all of the time, but they did it here in California, so who knows... is they played two nights in a row at the same club, and played two COMPLETELY different sets! that is quite awesome, i must say. the energy was great, they sounded good(the club they played has kind of a crappy sound system..) and all the songs i wanted them to play on night one, they played on night two.
shit. yeah.
can't stop the rock.
there are more great bands coming to town soon, and hopefully i won't have to take too many nights off to see them. i'm working all over the damn place, and i'm still broke. as a joke. really.
finally, concert season. i've been waiting. i miss it. i mean the shows i WANT to see, not the ones i HAVE to see. although English Beat are coming back, and that will be great.
uh, yeah, got a couple of commission pieces going. hoping to get more from those, and i am going to try to get a website for art and other crapola up within the next two months. got some loans to pay off, and then, internetting all over the friggen place.

well here i am back at school for another wonderful semester of working three jobs and taking up as much free time as i can watching movies and drawing doodles. got my art class i'm continuing, a film communications class, and a script/storyboarding class. guh. finally getting the multimedia stuff going, which is awesome.
work is finally picking up. mezz has more than three shows this month. good for my rent and bills. still working at the dna lounge off and on. and i'm back at the cafe for a bit. i need all the extra dinero i can get...
hhmmmm, other than that it looks pretty good. all my time is being taken up with arts and crafts. and a very rare out with the pals night. but that ain't gonna be happening much for a while. gotta buckle down.

well, just a couple short hours and i'll be on the train back to oakland. damn fun was had over and over all day long. i truly wish i could stay longer but alas, i gotta go. stuff to do, things to see, people to peep. you know, the regular drill.

hey all. i'll be back in mpls for a few days this yule. or x-mas or whatever. anyway, i'm gonna be in town from december 18th till the 25th. obviously the close days to the holiday are full, but i seem to know a couple of days i'll have plenty of free time to run rampant in the snow with my nutty pals left in the area. sarah, ozel... i'm talking to you... one warning..., i am pretty broke, so its gonna have to be some simple crazy not expensive wacky stuff. you know, t.p.ing or something like that. what am i, 13?
uh, anyway, yes. that is the big deal lately. i'm coming back to the bay area by train, which'll take 3 days and a lot of reading material to get through, but hey, i love the trains. forced patience is the BEST!
hhmmmmm, what else..? ooh. i'm now working at another club on top of the one i've been at for the past 3 years. it's the DNA Lounge, and it is a pretty goddamn cool place to be. of course i'm doing more security there, but the crew is cool and the place gets some neat-o nights. security ain't what people seem to think it is. yes, there are fights, yes there are assholes, but then, that crap pretty much happens EVERYWHERE nowadays. most of my job doing security is making sure everything is running as smoothly as possible and that the customers are having fun.
still busting ass on art projects. lots of brush inking and painting lately. i'm almost out of school for this semester, but i've got plans for more work through all of my break. (and i'm sure, well into the next semester...)
the hanging went well. got lots of compliments but no real buys. (...yet.) 1500 people through the door. so thats a bonus. plus the promoters, who are a couple of the most awesome people on earth, are pretty demanding that i keep showing. which of course means i'm in for the next show they do. rad.
yeah. so other than that, crap is happening. hope you all have fantastic holiday, and i'll see you into the new year. of course, i'll be working...

well, i actually get to show off some of the crap i paint. i'm gonna be hanging art at a huge show in the club i work. the promoters are great, great folks and they gave me a little wall space to show off my wares. this saturday the first of december. i'm kinda freaking out, but at least i've got something to show. i'm gonna make some prints to sell and see what happens... at least the ball is rolling. i can make some better connections through this than just telling everybody i paint. and draw. and stuff...
so wish me luck and hope i sell out. i gotta make rent somehow, and all my free time has been painting and drawing.

well, i'm here in YOSEMITE,staying at the EVERGREEN LODGE and man is it great. spending lots of time with mom and dad. couldn't be better. i'll be back in the bay area on friday, and right back into the work week(end). went into YOSEMITE PARK today, and just tooled around, checking out HALF DOME and EL CAPITAN and other earth uprisings. saw some deer and squirrels, and generally had a fun time. i like it here. its peaceful. don't get me wrong, i love the city, pretty much any city, but its nice to get the hell out and sit somewhere QUIET. i'd like to come here with some good friends and just spend a couple days here.
yup, it's that friggen cool.
oh well, more whenever i friggen get to it.

hiya! yeah, its been awhile, but what can i say... i don't have a friggen computer, thats what i can say.
back in school, which is, to say the least... rad. i'm continuing my art class, cause its goddam fun, and taking a screenwriting class. its all for the digital multimedia future i see mapping itself ahead of me.
uh, hit splitsville with the lady, which ain't no damn fun, but things happen every day. things like this. to people like me. uuhhh..., yeah, anyway.
still working at both jobby jobs, and lovin' it. got some good shows coming up soon. dinosaur jr. is playing at my club, which is pretty cool, even though i never cared one way or the other for em. i guess i'm getting tame in my old age, if it ain't rap, i like the show. even a bunch of the rap shoiws have been great, i just don't dig on the crowd. e. g. o. and lots of it. ah well, i am security, and i'm pretty much there to crap on someones drunken revelry. at least it pays well...
other than that, not much. ma and pa vesh are coming down for a visit, which i cannot wait for that!!!! i miss my family way too much, and since i live in california, which is a wonderful state, i can't afford planes, trains, or automobiles. i can barely make back and forth between oakland and san francisco. much less out of state.

zero to thirty in.., holy shit I'M THIRTY!!!

well, my buddy jesse has been in town for the last week, and it has been friggen great! man did i miss that guy. he is one of my best friends. always has been, always will be. that is just how it goes... he left today to go back to seattle, and then if we're really lucky down here he'll be back soon..., for good. the thought has been kicked around so you never know... heh heh. anywho, other than that, its been work work work, and a little bit of playtime. i'm gonna go see wayne "the train" hancock again this tuesday night, which is always great, and working my but off to pay for this last week. not only did we have pretty much no shows, but i got time of from the cafe to hang with jess. which is fantastic, but now i'm broke. ah screwit! who needs it, anyway...?
oh yeah, and i turned thirty saturday night. all you wonderful folks who texted and called me, i love you with all my heart.
